Introduction
Some 2023 model year Sequoia Hybrid and 2022 – 2023 model year Tundra and Tundra Hybrid
vehicles may exhibit poor acceleration and/or a MIL ON condition with one or more of the following
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):

P017400 – System Too Lean Bank 2

P117B00 – Fuel Performance/Direct Injector

P043000 – Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2
Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address these conditions.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
 This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months
or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
 Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in
this bulletin.
 2023 Model Year Sequoia Hybrid vehicles and 2022 – 2023 Model Year Tundra and
Tundra Hybrid vehicles equipped with a California Certified Emission Control System that are
registered and operated in California or any state that have adopted the California emission
warranty – California Emission Long-Term Defect Warranty is in effect for 7 years or 70,000 miles
from the vehicle’s in-service date, whichever occurs first. (Please reference Warranty Policy 4.7,
and/or the Owner’s Warranty & Maintenance Guide for additional information.)

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit a lack of power during acceleration and/or a MIL ON condition with
one or more of the following DTCs present?



P017400 – System Too Lean Bank 2
P117B00 – Fuel Performance/Direct Injector
P043000 – Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2

YES — Continue to step 2.

NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Monitor the freeze frame data while the vehicle is at idle under direct injection mode.
Do the low/high fuel pressure and mass air flow sensors read close to target and normally?

YES — This condition may indicate a fuel restriction in the bank 2 fuel rail.
Continue to step 3.

NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.

3. Remove the No. 2 LH fuel delivery pipe and the No. 3 fuel pipe.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
NOTE
ONLY perform steps 1 – 8 of the applicable Repair Manual.

2023 Sequoia Hybrid:
Engine/Hybrid System – Fuel System – “V35A-FTS (Fuel): Fuel Injector
(for Direct Injection): Removal”

2022 – 2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid:
Engine/Hybrid System – Fuel System – “V35A-FTS (Fuel): Fuel Injector
(for Direct Injection): Removal”
4. Install the NEW No. 2 LH fuel delivery pipe and the NEW No. 3 fuel pipe.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
NOTE
ONLY perform steps 12 and 14 of the applicable Repair Manual.

2023 Sequoia Hybrid:

5. Was DTC P043000 present in step 1?

YES — Continue to step 6.

NO — Go to step 7.

6. Remove the LH catalyst converter assembly and install a NEW LH catalyst
converter assembly.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

Converter: Removal / Installation”

2022 – 2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid:

7. Test-drive the vehicle to confirm the condition(s) no longer exist(s).
