Technical Service Bulletin During the PDI the diagnostic tester is unable to establish communication with the vehicle. Pins within the OBD port U31 (Figure 1) may have been damaged in production. Check contacts on diagnostic connection for damage. Figure 1: OBD port (U31). If damaged contacts are found, document the pin number(s) damaged and attach photos as seen in figures 1 and 2 to DOC-IT. Repair the wires as needed using VAS 1978 B. Figure 2: Damaged pin.
