Content
Issue:
JLR is investigating customer reports of certain noises coming from the accessory drive system.
The noises that are being reported are:
Rumble / Knocking noise near the Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor. (AJ20D6/P6).
Chirp / Squeal noise from the accessory drive belt (AJ20D6 only).
Cause:
Rumble / Knocking:
- The Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor bracket becomes loose causing excessive running noise
reference Video 1 (AJ20D6/P6).
Chirp / Squeal noise:
- Misalignment of the drive belt or idler pulley reference Video 2 (AJ20D6 only).
Action:
Rumble / Knocking noise:
Inspect the A/C bracket, if found to be loose or cracked then the below components MUST ALL be
renewed. (AJ20D6/P6):
CAUTION: The idler pulley MUST be renewed in order to rectify the concern.
Accessory drive belt
Accessory drive belt tensioner
A/C bracket
Idler pulley
Chirp / Squeal noise:
Renew the drive belt.
Renew the idler pulley.
Do not replace the belt tensioner
Check the integrity of the accessory drive belt driven components and rectify as necessary.

Update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the latest version (AJ20D6 only).
