07/27/2023- Fuel Accumulator leak Completed BACKGROUND • 8 issues notified from the OEMs for accumulator fitting leaks. All issues found in BIS Customer 5 other OEMs KENWORTH TRUCK COMPANY KENWORTH TRUCK COMPANY KENWORTH TRUCK COMPANY Level of Leak Level 1, Level 5 Level 1 Level 1 Level 3 ESN 1st • Accumulator Inventory inhouse at RMEP has the 1st accumulator fittings torqued to 175NM (ESNF : 99143489). 99105429 99113281 99105491 FAULT CODE/FAIL MODE • Leaks have been observed on the STATUS: Open accumulator fittings in all the 8 issues found until now. CURRENT STATE NEXT STEPS • Engines which are at the OEMs before the clean point need to be touched by the techs to change the accumulator fitting torque to 175NM. • Provide the work instructions for the onsite techs to rework the accumulator fittings to 175 NM. • Supplier Leak Test(Retest) • 125 suspect fuel rails based on the manufacturing date. 4 out of 125 were released by supplier after retesting belonging to the same manufacturing date. 3 out of those 4 matched with the ones that were leaking at the OEM. • 4th accumulator failed at RMEP in the hot test for Crank Fuel Decay High(CFDH) fault. • Clean point was established - ESN 99121169 • Leaks found outside of the suspect list of 125 • The 1st accumulator fittings are to be torqued to 175 NM as a part of step 3. • Proposed change is parented from India B fuel system FIRG #58525 in 2017 ROOT CAUSE AND GOAL STATEMENT • Assignable cause - Uneven loading at fitting-to-rail interface 1
