Emissions Campaigns
Requirements
(CALIFORNIA ONLY)
The California Air Resources Board and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) require
emissions-related campaigns to be completed prior to vehicle registration renewal. When
campaign work is done you must provide the owner with a signed “Vehicle Emission Recall –
Proof of Correction” certificate (RC EMISCAVWAU). Order certificates online via the
Compliance Label Ordering portal at www.accessaudi.com.
Additional Information
Please alert everyone in your dealership about this action, including Sales, Service, Parts
and Accounting personnel. Contact Warranty if you have any questions.
Dealers must ensure that every affected inventory vehicle has this campaign completed before
delivery to consumers.
Fill out and affix Campaign Completion Label (CAMP 010 000) after work is complete.
Labels can be ordered at no cost via the Compliance Label Ordering portal at
www.accessaudi.com.

In cooperation with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, we are informing
you of our decision to conduct an emissions service action on certain 2021-2022 model year Audi vehicles. Our records show
that you are the owner of a vehicle affected by this action.
What is the issue?
Under certain conditions, tolerance issues related to the engine camshaft position sensors may
elevate tailpipe emissions.
What will we do?
Your authorized Audi dealer will install updated camshaft position sensors. This work will take
about two hours to complete and will be performed for you free of charge. Please keep in mind
that your dealer may need additional time for the preparation of the repair, as well as to
accommodate their daily workshop schedule.
What should you do?
In order to limit any possible inconvenience, please contact your authorized Audi dealer as soon as
possible to schedule this service. For your convenience, you can also visit www.audiusa.com and click

Important information for California regulations require that this campaign be completed prior to the time you renew your

Remove the right coolant pipes from longitudinal
member (if necessary):
CAUTION
The cooling system can be under pressure. Risk
of scalding by hot steam and hot coolant.
Possibility of scalding the skin and other parts
of the body.
Wear safety gloves.
Wear protective eyewear.
Reduce the pressure: cover the coolant expansion
tank cap with a suitable towel and carefully open.
•
Place rags underneath the hoses or a catch
tray under the vehicle to catch escaping
coolant. Ensure that any spilled coolant is
cleaned with water.
•
Loosen the hose clamps <1> and remove the
coolant hoses.
•
Remove the nuts .

Remove the bolts <1>.

Loosen the hose clamps , remove
the coolant hoses and remove the coolant
pipes.
Replacing the camshaft position sensors:
It is essential to observe the following fitting locations
when installing the new camshaft sensors:
•
Install white (part number index “K”) camshaft
position sensor (G40) on bank 1 .
Bank 1 is always on the right/passenger side
of the engine as seen in the direction of vehicle
travel , opposite the gearbox.
•
Install blue (part number index “J”) camshaft
position sensor (G163) on bank 2 (left/driver
side).

Push the upper section of the noise insulation
slightly upward.
•
Disconnect the connector <2>.
•
Remove the bolt  and remove the
camshaft position sensor <1>. (Camshaft
Position Sensor -G40- shown).
•
Install the new sensor in the reverse order of
removal.
•
Torque bolt  to 9 Nm.
Reinstall coolant pipes:
•
Installation is the reverse order of removal.
•
Torque bolts to 9 Nm.
