Cause
When programming a replacement radio, it is required to perform Serial Data
Authentication (SDA) prior to SPS programming. If SDA is not performed prior to
programming, the VIN will not be learned to the module.
Software
Correction:
When not replacing a Radio, begin at step 3.
1. Install new Radio Module, make sure the Radio is not in Demo Mode and that all Terms and Conditions are
accepted.
2. Perform Serial Data Authentication. Refer to SI Document ID 5404959.
3. Perform USB Programming.
a. Using SPS, load an appropriate USB drive with the latest software.
b. After the USB drive is created by SPS, follow PIT6047 (Radio USB Update Battery Ignore File) to create an
additional le on the drive named gm_usb_ignore_battery.
NOTE: A USB C drive is needed with a minimum of 16 GB and maximum of 32 GB and must be formatted to
FAT32.
4. Perform SPS Programming.
5. Perform SPS Setup.
