The vehicles will not be visible or flagged in VMI or EVA. Background Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 2021 S-Class (223 platform) vehicles, the software for the communication module does not correspond to the latest series production configuration. The communication module software will be updated to enable remote software updates on other control units in the future. Further contributions to product improvement and increases in robustness will also be implemented with this software update. The update is free of charge and will be carried out in the background. Issue MBUSA will conduct an OTA service campaign. Remote software updates are automatically downloaded and installed in the customer’s vehicle free of charge without an additional workshop visit via the data link of the communication module. No customer letter will be mailed for this software update. Parts are not required since the remedy software will be pushed via OTA. Over-the-Air (“OTA”) updates are performed remotely and do not require a dealer visit. Customers can continue to drive their vehicles. If the vehicle has not been driven in four or more weeks – we suggest that the ignition be cycled once to initialize the OTA process; sufficient battery voltage may be required for initialization of the software update. Additional information to verify a successful OTA update: Dealers can check VeDoc or alternatively Customers can use the Mercedes Me App to verify a successfully OTA update.
