SITUATION
Emergency Stop Assistant is activated. This
icon will appear in the CID when this function
is activated.
CAUSE
Activation of the Emergency Stop Assistant under the follow conditions:
- Inattention of the driver
The driver does not pay attention to driving for more than 7 seconds.
- Driver does not respond to takeover request
The driver ignores the takeover request (red steering wheel symbol) of an activated driver assistance
function.
- Vehicle leaves its driving lane several times
The eye position and the head position of the driver are not detected. At the same time, the vehicle leaves
its own lane several times and is guided back to its own lane by the Lane Departure Warning function.
Important: This is not a malfunction of the Emergency Stop Assistant!
PROCEDURE
1.) Inform the customer about the operating principle of the Emergency Stop Assistant.
To do this, use the information given in the Cause section and refer the customer to the “Emergency Stop
Assistant” section in the Owner's Manual.
2.) Inform the customer about the manual abort options.
The braking process initiated by the Emergency Stop Assistant can be aborted in any case by the following
measures:

- Actuation of the accelerator pedal
- Abort on the control display
- Actuation of the turn indicator
- Steering intervention
3.) If the customer does not want this feature, it can be activated/deactivated via the settings per the
path below. However, the system cannot be turned off in the follow situations.
1. Driver does not respond to takeover request
2. Vehicle leaves its driving lane several times
3. Activation by speech
- “Menu”
- “Vehicle apps”
- “Driving Settings”
- “Driver Assistance”
- “Safety and Warnings”
- “Emergency Stop”
