SB2272_USA_en_2023-11-30 Page 1 of 3 DOES THE DETECTOR NEED TESTING? All detectors are tested by the manufacturer before shipment. You don’t need to do additional tests. If required by Van Hool, the detector can be tested by using a smoke test spray. Van Hool recommends the “A3 Smoke Test Spray” of the manufacturer “SOLO”. Test must be done when the detector in operation (led = green). After testing, the vehicle ignition must be switched off and on again to put the detector back in the status “in operation”. Figure 2 WHAT IS THE MEANING OF “LOW CONTAMINATION” AND “HIGH CONTAMINATION”? After a period of time, the sensor in the detector becomes covered with dust or other particles. • • Low contamination: sensor is being covered with dust or dirt and should be cleaned. High contamination: sensor must be cleaned to prevent the activation of the alarm after a short time, although there is no fire. To clean the sensor, the detector must be opened. Clean the inside of the detector by using for example an air duster (= cannister with compressed-air for the safe removal of dust and other airborne contamination). Do not blow to hard on the circuit board but only clean the sensor compartment. There is no need to replace the detector!
