Some customers may comment on the MIL illuminated immediately after starting vehicle.
Some technicians may find DTC P18AE and/or P0700 set in the Transmission Control
Module (TCM).
Important: For vehicles with over 5000 miles (8046 km), follow the diagnostic path for
DTC P18AE.
Note: Only follow this diagnostic if only DTC P18AE has set along with DTC P0700.
Correct all other performance related DTC’s prior to following the diagnostics below.
1. Using GDS, clear the DTC.
2. Shut the engine off, exit the vehicle with the key fob or key and allow all vehicle
modules to power down.
3. Restart the vehicle and idle for 10 seconds.
4. Shift from Park to Drive, Drive to Reverse, Reverse to Park.
5. Shut the engine off, exit the vehicle with the key fob or key and allow all vehicle
modules to power down.
6. Restart the vehicle and idle for 10 seconds.
7. Check to see if P18AE or any other Transmission DTCs set.
• If no DTC’s are current, use the Labor Code listed below and return the vehicle back
to the customer
• If DTC P18AE has returned, replace the valve body. Refer to Control Valve Body
Replacement in SI.
• If any other Transmission DTC’s have set, follow published Service Information (SI)
Procedures.
