Bulletin No.: PIT6087 Published date: 11/15/2023 Preliminary Information PIT6087 Rear Cross Tra c and / or Side Blind Zone Systems Do Not Detect Certain Vehicles Models Brand: Model: Model Years: VIN: from to Engine: Transmissions: Cadillac Escalade Models 2021 - 2023 All All All All Chevrolet Suburban 2021 - 2023 All All All All Chevrolet Tahoe 2021 - 2023 All All All All GMC Yukon Models 2021 - 2023 All All All All Involved Region or Country North America Condition Some customers may comment that the rear cross tra c and/or side blind zone system(s) may not detect certain vehicles or there is an unavailable message. The cause of this concern could be that one or both Left/Right Side Obstacle Detection Control Module were improperly installed into the rear bumper fascia bracket, due to poor workmanship. The side obstacle detection modules have an internal antenna to emit a signal (radar wave) and the modules must be installed properly for the system to work correctly. There have been cases, where these modules have been installed upside down, backwards, ipped over, swapped left to right, etc. Typically, these installation issues happen after there has been some type of previous repair work done to the vehicle. Cause In the example shown below, the Side Object Detection Modules were ipped over (1). The modules internal antenna, that emits the radar wave, was pointed inward towards the passenger's compartment. Despite the radar being mounted incorrectly, and pointing in the opposite direction, the system still had some partial functionality, but clearly not working to the systems full standards. Call out 1 - Improperly installed Call out 2 - Properly installed (labeling on the module pointing towards the front of the vehicle) Correction: When diagnosing a performance related issue, with the Rear Cross Tra c and / or Side Blind Zone systems, rst verify the proper installation of the Left and Right Side Obstacle Detection Control Modules. If you are unsure if they are installed correctly, then compare the installation to a known good vehicle and also review SI repair instructions. Warranty Information Improperly installed modules typically occur after some type of previous repair such as module replacement, body shop repairs, etc. and are not covered under warranty.
