Condition
Customer states:
After switching on the ignition, or when the vehicle is started, the message “left or right low beam headlight
defective. See owner's manual” appears in the instrument cluster although the headlights are fully functional.
Workshop findings:
The customer concern can be reproduced.
The following DTC is stored in the left/right lamp control module A31/A27 (address word 00D6/00D7):
•
DTC C1198F7 Low beam light bulb output power implausible / symptom 1890.
Technical Background
Diagnostic software too sensitive in the light control modules.
Production Solution
New software in production.
Service
1. Explain to the customer that a solution is expected to be available by the end of the 1st quarter of 2024
(subject to change) and that no repairs are necessary at this point. Do not replace any components for this
condition since this will not resolve the customer’s concern.
2. Create a PSS record in the PSS application through the Pending Service Solutions (PSS) link in AccessAudi
(under Related Links >> Service).
Workaround:
The fault message in the instrument cluster can be avoided by changing the light signature to signature #1.
