SITUATION
BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective December 7, 2023) on certain Model Year 2023 BMW
vehicles that were produced between July 4, 2022, and April 24, 2023.
Do not deliver to a customer, a New, Certified Pre-Owned or Used vehicle subject to a Delivery Stop,
until the vehicle is repaired. Do not use or sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a Delivery
Stop.
A small flap of sound insulation material may
come into contact with some of the 12 V B+
cables at the remote B+ charging point
terminal (general location at arrow) along the
engine compartment’s passenger side inner
fenderwell.
CAUSE
If the sound insulation becomes damp and is in contact with the mounting point of the possible cable
terminal or the positive battery cable, in very rare cases corrosion may occur over time.

Inspect the exposed cables for any corrosion.
If there is no corrosion, reinstall the junction
point cover and the engine acoustic cover to
finish the repair.
If there is corrosion, proceed to the next step.
Prior to removing and cleaning the battery
cables, follow the repair manual
instructions for important safety
information in regards to the HV battery.
CAUTION: Prior to disconnecting the 12 V
battery ground terminal, deactivate the
high voltage (HV) battery circuit. This must
be done by a HV-trained technician. Refer
to repair instruction 61 25 900 “Deenergize the high voltage system”
Take photos of the corrosion and attach
them to a TSARA Info case for parts
replacement approval.
Disconnect the 12 V battery per repair instructions 61 20 900 “Disconnecting and connecting battery
ground lead.”
Disconnect the corroded cable(s) and use a brass-bristle wire brush to remove the corrosion. Do not use
a metal-bristle brush, which can remove the cable terminals’ protective plating. Brass bristles are softer
and do not abrade the plating.
Apply electrical contact grease KF1 to the exposed cable terminals.
Reconnect the cable(s) and nut(s). Refer to 6114 “Overview of tightening torques” for the correct
tightening torque.
Reconnect the 12 V battery per repair instructions 61 20 900 “Disconnecting and connecting battery
ground lead.”
Reinstall the junction point cover and the engine acoustic cover to finish the repair.
