If the customer has not commented about this condition or the EI does not show in GWM/IVH, disregard the PIE, and proceed with diagnostics found in published service information. THIS IS NOT A RECALL refer to Service Bulletin 04-00-89-053 for more details on the use of Engineering Information bulletins. Brand: Model: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 GMC Sierra 1500 Model Year: VIN Breakpoint: from to from to 2023 2024 — — Engine: Transmission: Equipped with 3.0L (RPO LZ0) — Involved Region or Country U.S. Dealers ONLY Condition Some customers may comment on the Check Engine Lamp illuminated on the Driver Information Center (DIC). Technicians may find DTC P2B97 set. Cause GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of the above condition. Engineering has a need to gather information on vehicles PRIOR to repair that may exhibit this condition. As a result, this information will be used to "root cause" the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix. Correction Important: Service agents must comply with all International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or Local laws applicable to the activities it performs under this bulletin, including but not limited to handling, deploying, preparing, classifying, packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping dangerous goods. In the event of a conflict between the procedures set forth in this bulletin and the laws that apply to your dealership, you must follow those applicable laws. If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern, please follow document 6248759 for 2023 model year vehicles and 6313500 for model year 2024 vehicles. If the diagnostic leads to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Actuator Replacement, please record the following and contact the engineer listed below with your findings: 1 1. Take a picture of the serial number on the exhaust pipe, as shown in the picture above. 2. What is the Exhaust Pressure Regulator Valve Learned Position PRIOR to replacement? 3. What is Exhaust Pressure Regulator Valve Learned Position AFTER replacement? 4. If the two-valve learned position are within 12% (smallest number divided the highest number times 100), disconnect the exhaust rear pipe from the rest of the exhaust with the actuator wires connected. 4.1. Using a bore scope, examine the valve inside of the pipe as the valve is commanded open and closed. 4.2. Check if the shaft rotates freely and make sure that the flap is not binding or sticking due to any debris, dirt, ice, or welding spatter, as shown in the pictures above. 2 Contact Information The Contact Information has been redacted.
