* * TECHNICAL INFORMATION NOTICE * * DATE: December 20, 2023 TO: Mitsubishi Motors US & Puerto Rico Dealer Parts & Service Managers RE: Wireless Charger Software available for iPhone 12 & later equipped with MagSafe TIN #: TIN-23-13-006 AFFECTED VEHICLES: All 2022 and Certain 2023 Outlander built before 10/07/2022 Certain 2023 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid built before 10/07/2022 PURPOSE: This TIN refers to TSB-22-13-004REV, originally issued December 2022. Beginning with the iPhone 12, Apple has built in a circular magnetic MagSafe charging loop in the back of the phone. When using these types of smartphones, the wireless charger on new Outlander and Outlander Plug-in Hybrid vehicles might stop charging since it detects the MagSafe magnets as foreign metal material. The improvement has been implemented on vehicle production and the field fix software is available, which allows iPhone with MagSafe technology to charge appropriately. TSB-22-13-004REV encourages dealers to reprogram the wireless charger upon all visits of applicable vehicles, not only customer complaint basis. This TIN reminds dealers of this proactive treatment, which helps to improve customer satisfaction. 12/20/2023 1 of 1 (5371)
