Customer states:
The check engine warning lamp comes on.
Workshop findings:
One or more of the following DTCs are stored sporadically in the Engine Control Module, -J623- (address
word 01):
• DTC U064000: Lost Communication with EVAP Fuel Vapor Temperature Sensor Circuit.
• DTC U064100: Lost Communication with EVAP System Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit "A”.
Technical Background
In certain circumstances, EMI may negatively influence the signal from the fuel tank breather system.

For DTC’s that are statically stored, continue with normal diagnosis, in this case the TSB does not apply.
Replacing the tank pressure sender will not fix the problem.
For DTC’s that are stored sporadically, the wire harness will need to be modified using the steps below.
1. Remove plenum chamber covers (green
arrows, Figure 1)
Release wiring harness securing clips
(yellow arrows, Figure 1).
Using a seam ripper, expose the wiring
harness as shown in Figure 2.

2. Isolate the yellow/grey wire (triple
twisted wire; blue arrow, figure 2) in the
left bundle.
Isolate the yellow/purple wire in the
right bundle (black arrow, Figure 2).
Cut the yellow/grey wire at the blue
arrow and unravel it in the direction of
the plenum chamber up to the red
arrow.
Cut the yellow/purple wire at the black
arrow.

3. Using wire harness repair set VAS 1978
B, perform the following:
Connect the untwisted yellow/grey wire
(plenum chamber side) from the left
bundle to the yellow/purple wire in the
right bundle (engine side).
Connect the remaining yellow/purple
wire (plenum side) to the yellow/grey
wire (engine side).

4. Clear DTCs and recheck functionality. If ok, wrap the wiring harness in adhesive tape N 10729002 and
reassemble the vehicle.
