Update of Condition, Service Information &
Warranty
Condition
The DME control unit requires 50 km/31 miles on the odometer to set the drive readiness statuses. Within 31
miles, it is possible for the vehicle to shift from Drive (D) to Park (P) unprompted from the driver if ‘Start/ Stop’ and
‘Hold’ functions are activated. Once the odometer mileage exceeds 32 miles, this DME issue is eliminated and the
function is per design.
A software solution is now available that prevents the vehicle from shifting from Drive (D) to Park (P) unprompted
before the drive readiness statuses are set. As a result, the prescribed test drive is no longer required for some
variants. Please refer to the Service Information for more details.

Technical Background
DME function responsible for monitoring and controlling vehicle drive readiness requires 50 km after production for
drive functions like the ‘Start/Stop’ and ‘Hold’ functions to work as intended. Should the aforementioned condition
occur that the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to ‘Park’ without an operator prompt, then simply use the transmission’s
selector lever to shift to Drive to continue driving.
For this reason, the PDI inspection checklist for the affected vehicles includes this requirement as shown
below:
Service Information
The prescribed test drives to bring the odometer above 50 km/31 mi prior to customer delivery are no longer supported for Cayenne S (V8) variants.
As of PIWIS Tester release 42.400.032, a software solution is now available for the Cayenne S (V8) variant vehicles
that prevents the vehicle from shifting to Park unexpectedly before the odometer reaches 50 km/31 mi.
Please perform Automatic DME programming in the PIWIS Tester and ensure the DME information matches the
Porsche part number and SW version in the table below.

Base (V6) Cayenne models must still be driven in accordance with PDI instruction to ensure at least 32 miles are on
the odometer prior to customer delivery.
NOTE: A software solution is in progress for the Base (V6) Cayenne variants and is expected on February 2, 2024
with PIWIS Tester version 42.500.010.
Remark: Errors with installation of the Onboard Owner’s Manual are addressed as of PT4G v42.000.030.
Therefore, special instructions for installation of the Onboard Owner’s Manual have been removed.
