ACTION Use the SERVICE PROCEDURE in this bulletin to inspect and, if necessary, adjust the Moonroof’s Center Reinforcement Support. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/6 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the vehicle Headlining and rest it gently on the vehicle headrests. 2. Refer to the ESM: BODY INTERIOR > INTERIOR > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > HEADLINING Using a 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) thick plastic feeler gauge, measure the clearances at the six (6) points shown in Figure 1. Refer to the following bullet points and Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4 on page 3 for more detail. Location of Center Reinforcement Support under Rear Glass Moonroof Top of Rear Glass Moonroof Clearance points that will be measured Figure 1 2/6 NTB24-006 Measure the gaps from the top of the Center Reinforcement Support (Yellow dashes in Figure 2), to the underside of the roof and the Rear Glass Moonroof, where felt tape is present. See Figure 3 and Figure 4 for pictures of the felt tape. HINT: Figure 3 shows only three (3) points on one side. The other side is similar. Top of Rear Glass Moonroof Measure at these locations Vehicle inner roof panel Front of vehicle Center Reinforcement Support Center Reinforcement Support Bracket Moonroof slide assembly Figure 2 Measure above where each piece of felt tape is attached and move the plastic feeler gauge side to side along the felt tape. HINT: At least 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) of clearance should be present at all points along the top length of each piece of felt tape. 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) thick plastic feeler gauge Center Reinforcement Support Measure at these locations Figure 3 Figure 4 3/6 NTB24-006 3. Does the 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) thick plastic feeler gauge pass through and slide side to side at all six (6) points of the driver (LH) side and passenger (RH) side? Yes: Refer to the ESM for further diagnostic information not covered by this bulletin, and then skip to step 9 on page 5. No: Note those points that the plastic feeler gauge did not pass through on the repair order, and then proceed to step 4. 4. Loosen the two (2) Center Reinforcement Support bracket side bolts (circled in Figure 5) below the point(s) that the plastic feeler gauge would not pass through. Center Reinforcement Support bracket Lower Center Reinforcement Support bracket side bolts (2) Figure 5 4/6 NTB24-006 5. Slide the Center Reinforcement Support bracket (Figure 6) downward until there is at least a 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) gap at the three (3) measurement points on that side of the vehicle. 6. Tighten the lower two (2) Center Reinforcement Support bracket side bolts loosened in step 4. 7. Loosen the remaining two (2) Center Reinforcement Support bracket top bolts (circled in Figure 6) to release Center Reinforcement Support tension, and then retighten. 8. Torque bolts to 21.0 N•m (2.1 kg-m, 15 ft-lb). Torque bolts to 10.0 N•m (1.0 kg-m, 89 in-lb). Repeat steps 4-7 on the opposite side of the vehicle as necessary.
