A rattle noise from the center moonroof area when driving on rough roads.
ACTION
Use the SERVICE PROCEDURE in this bulletin to inspect and, if necessary, adjust the
Moonroof’s Center Reinforcement Support.

will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it
contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the vehicle Headlining and rest it gently on the vehicle headrests.

2.
Refer to the ESM: BODY INTERIOR > INTERIOR > REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION > HEADLINING
Using a 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) thick plastic feeler gauge, measure the clearances at the
six (6) points shown in Figure 1. Refer to the following bullet points and Figure 2,
Figure 3 and Figure 4 on page 3 for more detail.

Measure the gaps from the top of the Center Reinforcement Support (Yellow
dashes in Figure 2), to the underside of the roof and the Rear Glass Moonroof,
where felt tape is present. See Figure 3 and Figure 4 for pictures of the felt tape.
HINT: Figure 3 shows only three (3) points on one side. The other side is similar.

Measure above where each piece of felt tape is attached and move the plastic
feeler gauge side to side along the felt tape.
HINT: At least 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) of clearance should be present at all points
along the top length of each piece of felt tape.

Does the 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) thick plastic feeler gauge pass through and slide side to
side at all six (6) points of the driver (LH) side and passenger (RH) side?
Yes: Refer to the ESM for further diagnostic information not covered by this bulletin,
and then skip to step 9 on page 5.
No: Note those points that the plastic feeler gauge did not pass through on the
repair order, and then proceed to step 4.
4.
Loosen the two (2) Center Reinforcement Support bracket side bolts (circled in
Figure 5) below the point(s) that the plastic feeler gauge would not pass through.

Slide the Center Reinforcement Support bracket (Figure 6) downward until there is at
least a 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) gap at the three (3) measurement points on that side of the
vehicle.
6.
Tighten the lower two (2) Center Reinforcement Support bracket side bolts loosened
in step 4.

7.
Loosen the remaining two (2) Center Reinforcement Support bracket top bolts (circled
in Figure 6) to release Center Reinforcement Support tension, and then retighten.

8.
Torque bolts to 21.0 N•m (2.1 kg-m, 15 ft-lb).
Torque bolts to 10.0 N•m (1.0 kg-m, 89 in-lb).
Repeat steps 4-7 on the opposite side of the vehicle as necessary.

Reassemble the vehicle Headlining.

