Cause
Service procedures have changed.
Correction:
Service information repair procedures have changed and some technicians are still attempting to characterize
MCV and Direct clutch PUNs in the TCM. These 2 parts NO LONGER REQUIRE CHARACTERIZATION when being
replaced.
You MUST still characterize SAV (Shift Activation Valve) and transmission assembly replacements.
The supplier uses a 21 digit PUN for production parts and we characterize a 22 digit PUN in service. When we
direct ship a production part it does not contain the 22 digit PUN required for characterization. Performing
Service Fast Learn after either of these two parts are changed will allow the TCM to adequately learn the ow and
ll characteristics of the new parts.
If you tried to characterize direct clutch or MCV pun numbers and it fails, select "Refresh Characterization Data" as
shown below and use the TUN number from the transmission assembly.
