When comparing the heater core inlet hose temperature to the heater core outlet hose temperature, there will be a signi cant di erence. Condition Only on certain pickup models: GDS2 can be used to compare the heater core inlet temperature sensor 3 to the heater core outlet temperature sensor 4, there will be a signi cant di erence (example inlet temp 147 degs F and outlet temp 82 degs F, typically they are within 10-20 degs F). Note: When comparing the di erence in the heater core temperature sensors, make sure the blower motor is on high with the HVAC temperature set to full hot. Cause This issue could be caused by either the heater core inlet or outlet hoses becoming twisted or kinked, and as a result, this may restrict the coolant ow. Correction: If SI diagnostics do not lead to a correction, inspect the heater core inlet (1) and/or outlet (2) hoses for being twisted or kinked, as shown below. In ALL cases, it is di cult to see the twist or kink in the hose due to the conduit which covers the hoses. In the examples below, the parts catalog drawing, showing callouts 1 and 2, correlates to the actual vehicle picture callouts 1 and 2. If a twist or kink is found, then reposition the hose/clamp to remove the twist/kink. If the hose has taken a set and is deformed, then replace as necessary.
