Condition
Some customers may comment that the seatback is stuck in the full forward position and
will not recline.
Cause
This may be caused by a burr that built up on the gear of the seatback actuator
preventing the seatback to recline.
Correction
If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern,
complete the following steps:
1. Pull forward on the inboard side top surface of the
seatback while pushing the recliner switch
rearward.
Note: Once the seatback starts to move rearward,
stop pulling on the seatback.
2. Using the power recliner switch, move the
seatback forward against the full forward
travel stop.
Note: Continue activating the forward switch for 2-4
seconds after the seatback stops moving.
3. Using the power recliner switch, move the
seatback rearward off the full forward stop for a few
degrees.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for five cycles.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
