Condition
Some customers may comment that the turbocharger is noisy and/or the malfunction
indicator lamp is illuminated with DTC P2261.
Cause
This may be caused by a stuck turbocharger bypass valve.
If diagnosis does not lead to an electrical concern,
check the Julian date (2) on the turbocharger bypass
valve.
• If prior to Julian date 15T327, replace the
turbocharger bypass valve per SI repair
procedure.
• If the Julian date is 15T327 and after, refer to SI
diagnostics.
If a noise is still present without DTC P2261 setting,
further diagnosis for noise should be performed.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper
service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a
job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the
information.
