File in Section: Bulletin No.: Service Bulletin Date: 16-NA-020 February, 2016 TECHNICAL Subject: Turbocharger Noise and/or Malfunction Indicator Lamp Illuminated with DTC P2261 Brand: Model: Buick Encore Chevrolet Malibu Model Year: from VIN: to from Engine: Transmission: to 1.4L (LE2) 2016 1.5L (LFV) Condition Some customers may comment that the turbocharger is noisy and/or the malfunction indicator lamp is illuminated with DTC P2261. Cause This may be caused by a stuck turbocharger bypass valve. If diagnosis does not lead to an electrical concern, check the Julian date (2) on the turbocharger bypass valve. • If prior to Julian date 15T327, replace the turbocharger bypass valve per SI repair procedure. • If the Julian date is 15T327 and after, refer to SI diagnostics. If a noise is still present without DTC P2261 setting, further diagnosis for noise should be performed. Correction Warranty Information For vehicles repaired under warranty, use: Labor Operation Description Labor Time 4023260 Turbocharger Bypass Valve Solenoid Replacement Use Published Labor Operation Time 4367888 Do not immediately replace the turbocharger for a noise if DTC P2261 is set current or in history. Perform SI diagnostics for the DTC to confirm that this is not an electrical connection or circuit concern.
