Condition
Transmission warning message appears in instrument cluster. The gearbox is in limp mode
until key is cycled. Fault P17E100 (DFCC 9473) is stored in transmission control unit.
The DFCC is the 4-6 digit code that is
typically listed before the fault code (Figure
1).

The fault is very sporadic and usually appears after a cold start.
Technical Background
Fault is caused by transmission software that is too sensitive.

The vehicle’s condition must match the condition listed above for this PSS TSB to be
applicable. To verify that the vehicle’s condition matches the condition above, delete the fault
entry and perform a test drive:
• If the complaint recurs or if the fault entry cannot be deleted, this PSS TSB does not apply
and should not be followed. Follow guided fault finding test plan.
• If the fault entry clears and does not return, follow these instructions:
1. Diagnose the vehicle according to the instructions listed below. If customer’s vehicle
condition matches the condition listed in the Technical Background of this PSS TSB,
explain to the customer that a solution is forthcoming and that no repairs are necessary
at this point.
2. Do not replace any components for this condition since this will not resolve the
customer’s concern.
