Condition
Customer states:
Upon starting the engine, the yellow steering warning lamp lights up and the power steering assistance is
reduced.
Workshop findings:
The following DTCs may be logged in the steering control unit -J500- (diagnostic address 0044):
• B200000 symptom 4176 and/or B200FF4 symptom 16712020.
Or
• B200000 symptom 4432.
Technical Background
Software issue.
Production Solution
Improved software planned for 3rd Quarter 2024.
Service
1. The DTCs will be set to passive in the next bus sleep cycle; the steering functionality will then no longer be
restricted, and the steering warning lamp will no longer light up. The vehicle can be returned to the customer.
2. Explain to the customer that a software update is expected to be available by the end of the third quarter of
2024 (subject to change) and that no repairs are necessary at this point. Do not replace any components for
this condition since this will not resolve the customer’s concern.

3. Create a PSS record in the PSS application through the Pending Service Solutions (PSS) link in AccessAudi
(under Related Links >> Service).
Do not replace the steering, it will not fix the problem.
