• The power rear lid does not close completely.
• The rear lid lock does not engage in the secondary latching position.
• The instrument cluster indicates that the rear lid is open.
Workshop findings:
One or more of the following DTC(s) may be stored in the rear lid control module J605 (address word 006D):
• DTC B113E29 (Closing assistance Range/Performance).

• DTC B12E015 (Rear lid closing assist motor Open circuit/short circuit to B+).
• DTC B113E07 (Pull-shut asst. mechanical malfunction).
Technical Background
The following failure modes can lead to this customer concern:
1. The internal clutch of the closing
assist motor can be blocked due
to a dimensional deviation. This
failure mode could cause DTC
B113E07 to store (Figure 1).

2. An improper solder joint inside the closing assist motor can cause a short circuit. This failure mode could
cause DTC B12E015 to store (Figure 2).

3. The Bowden cable clip has detached from the closing assist motor housing. This failure mode could also
cause DTC B113E07 to store (Figure 3).
