Condition
• The customer reports hearing a rattling or knocking noise when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road
surfaces. The noise is noticed after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed-up, and when the
temperature outside is warm.
• The condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is driven over bumps.
Technical Background
High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise.

1. Confirm that the noise is coming from the guide link(s) and not from other suspension components on the
vehicle (e.g., worn or damaged bushings or suspension components).
2. After the noise is confirmed to be from
the guide links, replace both left and
right lower guide links (Figure 1)
according to the instructions in Elsa >>

Suspension >> Removal and
Installation >> Guide Link.
