• TSB 2050723: 35 Gearbox Malfunction Warning, DTC P176F00, P176E00 or P175E00 stored in the TCM
does not show in ELSA for the vehicle or when TSB 2050723 is followed it does not apply to the concern.
Technical Background
Clutch 1 is worn.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
If the above condition applies to the vehicle:
1. Check if the TSB 2050723 applies to the vehicle first. If it does not lead to repair or Audi Technical
Assistance Center (TAC) case, then continue with this TSB.
2. Using the diagnostic scan tool check the measured value for Clutch 1’s maximum temperature (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Measured value for Clutch 1 maximum temperature.
3. Check the transmission fluid by obtaining a sample of the
transmission fluid drained into a white cup. Approximately
one inch of transmission fluid in the cup is all that is
required. Take a photograph of the fluid with the cup tilted
at about 45 degrees for your records (Figure 2). It may be
needed if an Audi Technical Assistance Center (TAC) case
needs to be opened or for warranty purposes.
Figure 2. Fluid photograph example showing
approximately one inch of fluid in the white cup,
and tilted on an angle to show depth and color.
4. If the measured value for Clutch 1 maximum temperature is about 400 degrees Celsius and the transmission
fluid smells burnt and is black or very dark in color, then replace the dual clutch, the transmission fluid, and
the transmission filter per the repair manual.
5. If the clutch 1 maximum temperature is not close to 400 degrees Celsius and the transmission fluid is not
black or very dark in color, then this TSB does not apply. Open an Audi Technical Assistance Center (TAC)
