Technical Service Bulletin 55 Rear lid opens/closes automatically 55 24 92 2073205/1 March 5, 2024. Model(s) Year Q8 2019 – 2023 SQ8, and RS Q8 2020 – 2023 VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment All Not Applicable Condition Customer States: • Rear lid opens/closes automatically when contact is made with the surface of the parking aid sender. Technical Background When contact is made with the parking aid senders, which are being supplied with current, a capacitive change can be triggered which manifests itself in the wiring as a change in potential. Because the wires for the parking aid and gesture-controlled rear lid are partly routed together, this change in potential can couple directly into the ground wire of the gesture-controlled rear lid. As the operating principle of the gesture-controlled rear lid is based on the recognition of changes in a capacitive field (change in potential), these signals fed in via the ground wire may be recognized as a kicking movement and open the rear lid if an authorized vehicle key is in the vicinity of the vehicle. To prevent unintentional opening/closing of the rear lid, contact with the parking sensors should be avoided and/or the vehicle key should be kept outside the range of the keyless system in relevant situations (e.g., car wash). Production Solution Not applicable. Service Try to reproduce the customer complaint (based on the description/cause of the issue), so that it can be clearly assigned to this TSB. Explain to the customer if the key is within range of the vehicle and the parking aid sensor is touched, this may result in the trunk lid opening or closing. This is normal and no repairs are needed. There is no reason to replace parts or attempt repairs. Warranty © 2024 Audi of America, Inc. Internal Page 1 of 2 All rights reserved.
