Workshop findings:
The following DTC may be stored in the ECM, -J623- (address word 0001):
• DTC: P044200: EVAP Emission Control System (Small Leak) Leak Detected (Passive/Active).
Technical Background
Various parts have been replaced under warranty for the condition noted above, but no issues were identified with
these parts. To gather information on the DTC codes for the vehicles listed above, we are asking that you contact
the Audi Technical Assistance Center (TAC) before replacing any parts. This will assist us in diagnosing any
potential issues with the condition noted above.
Production Solution
No changes to production have been made, as no issue has been identified.

Technical Service Bulletin
• Verify the condition.
• Perform EVAP testing per the ELSA Repair Manual: Engine>>Using the Evaporative Emissions tester >> 20
Fuel Supply >> Fuel System EVAP Leak Test >> EVAP System Leak Test, Vehicles with Fuel Tank Leak
Detection Control Module (NVLD) >> EVAP system testing.
• If no leaks are detected continue to perform the populated test plan in GFF.
• Once the test plan is completed recheck the status of the DTC, if it is still static contact TAC. If it is
passive/sporadic perform no repairs and release the vehicle.
• If the vehicle is within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, P044200 has been set in the past OR the fault is still
static after performing the GFF test plan contact TAC before proceeding.
• Please attach the DTC and diagnostic log to the TAC Web Ticket, and note the tool used to test the EVAP
system for leaks.
