Some customers may comment on a "Service Headlamp System" message displayed on the DIC. This
Condition may be displayed without any noticeable symptoms on the vehicle itself. All headlamp and exterior
lighting functions may be working correctly and no DTCs will be found by the servicing technician.
If this concern is encountered while working on one of the vehicles listed, dealership technicians
should closely inspect all areas of LIN bus 13 / circuit 2859 that runs in between the headlamp capsules
and the Body Control Module (BCM). The purpose of this circuit is to command the leveling portion of
the headlamps up and down in response to the front suspension lift system activation (RPO E60) that
certain vehicles are equipped with. When the vehicle is rst started, the BCM sends out a test signal to
Concern each headlamp to con rm the LIN bus is working correctly. If the message is not received and
responded to, the message is displayed in the DIC.
There is no way to tell where in this circuit a problem may exist. To correctly diagnose this concern, the
technician must physically inspect the entire circuit, on both sides of the vehicle, looking for any opens
or ground out concerns.
