ServiceNews Article March 2024 A24030A Version 1 Seat Belt Slow to Retract AFFECTED VEHICLES Year Model Trim Level 2022–24 Civic ALL Dirt or contamination can build up on the seat belt webbing and on the D-ring seat belt guide. This can restrict the seat belt from retracting normally, or stop it from retracting at all. Proper cleaning can restore normal movement. To clean the seat belt and the D-ring you should use a neutral detergent such as dishwashing liquid. Mix 5% dishwashing liquid with 95% lukewarm water. Use a cotton rag (do NOT use microfiber) with the cleaning solution and wipe the belt clean to remove any dirt. Use a toothpick to remove any hard to reach gummy deposits. Clean both the front and back of the D-ring area that contacts the belt. It may be necessary to remove the D-ring to properly clean it. Do not use a microfiber rag as these rags may scratch and damage the surface treatment on the seat belts. © 2024 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. – All Rights Reserved Page 1 of 1
