Consumer Complaints for this DTC

2007 TOYOTA SIENNA with 49550.0 miles

Flashing airbag light in 2007 Sienna with ~49k miles. Dealer suggested replace floor wire and air bag assembly - $3500 total. Not under warranty; error code B0116. Many similar complaints found on the internet for 06/07 Siennas. Cannot believe that Toyota does not stand behind its airbags more than the basic warranty when safely equipment failed less than 50k miles. The repair cost is too high which is a result of bad design. Safety equipment failure should be responsible by manufacture, especially the mileage is less than 50k. Have owned numerous vehicles with no airbag problems ever.

System is presenting airbag warning codes B0111 & B0116. These codes mean that we have to spend $3000-4000 to replace the airbags and wiring harnesses for the driver and passenger sides. This is completely out if the blue because a warning light came on. The vehicle is otherwise in great shape and has never been in an accident.

Airbag light warning light was flashing, started just after 60k mi. Went to dealer to have diagnosed. B0111, B0116 codes. Computer at dealer states that driver's side wiring squib is defective and needs to be replaced. Seems to be a known issue because repair instructions were available without taking apart my vehicle. Warranty on this part was extended to 60k, but dealer will not cover repair at 61k. Looking into it further, dealership chose not to cover because my vehicle had not been serviced at that dealership (35 miles from my home and over a mountain pass). Only owned vehicle for a year. Quoted price of $2600 to repair. In the meantime, entire airbag system on vehicle is disabled. Part is back-ordered, dealer did not have a sense of when it would be available. *tt

I bought a Toyota Sienna 2006 certified used vehicle last dec. 09, 2010. After driving for just less than 4 months i noticed that the srs light started to blink while driving to work. I informed my dealer 4 days later through email. But the lights went off a day after before i came down to his place and had been working normally for about 7 months. Then the issue came back again, brought it down to south coast Toyota and was told that code: B0116 driver side airbag and wiring loom need to be replaced for $3426. Toyota was informed but said it was not covered by warranty. I am severely disappointed as the reason i bought a certified used car and pay the price was the assurance that i will not get a lemon. But i was wrong and Toyota's assurance on quality of certified used car is purely crap.

Yet another airbag /srs warning light fault to report on the Sienna 2006. Code detected is B0116. Airbag wiring harness has to be replaced at a cost of $3000. This is not "wear and tear" it is clearly a manufacturing defect affecting thousands of this model of van. Toyota must accept responsibility for this before there is a fatality caused by airbags not activating.

The srs light started blinking "on" when driving approximately 65 mph. The light remained blinking for a few days then the blinking stopped. The blinking began again after a week. I took the vehicle in to a Toyota dealer who diagnosed the problem. They said that Toyota has a bulletin out on it: tsb-0162-10 "srs light "on" - B0111/B0116 - open side squib circuit the repair at the dealer was quoted at $3682.22. I felt this was unreasonable that Toyota knew about this safety issue and others have had the same problem but it was not deemed a "recall". I contacted Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and spoke with a representative. I voiced my concern and they made a case number: 1203051801. They admitted that there was a bulletin out on the issue but that it was not a recall. I was very upset because we did not cause this defect and it puts our family of 5 at great risk! We cannot afford to have this defect fixed at this time and feel that Toyota should own up to this problem that is affecting many and putting family's at great risk! We purchased the van new with working air bags - they have never be deployed, and we have never done anything to access or modify their workability so this should not be our problem. Highway safety requires air bags in all vehicles and should hold Toyota accountable for this defect.

At approximately 81,000 miles, the srs light started blinking on my Toyota Sienna. Code was B0116 (open side squib circuit). This is a safety issue and there is no recommended maintenance listed for this system. I took the car to the dealership, who indicated that this repair was out of warranty (5 years/60,000 miles) and that i needed to pay approximately $3,000 for the repair, plus rental car. Toyota was unwilling to stand by this safety issue, after requests by dealership and personally by me for assistance. I expected the safety equipment to last the life of the car when i purchased it, and not to have to budget for such a large repair, unless maintenance was indicated. All other maintenance has been performed to or exceeding Toyota standards and on time. Further, i was told that repairs like this are often/usually covered by Toyota if the owner has been continuously getting service/maintenance at the dealership, and that assistance is usually denied if service/maintenance is performed elsewhere. My service/maintenance is performed elsewhere, but with extremely high standards, parts, and liquids that are all at or above Toyota specifications.

When temperatures fall to 32 degrees f (sometimes higher) or below airbag light illuminates on 2004 Toyota Sequoia. When the car is started the srs (airbag) light illuminates in cold temperatures. After car warms up and if the car is turned off and back on srs light will go back off.
