P0270

Cylinder 4 Injector Circuit Low

DTC P0270, sometimes indicated as P027000 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the air/fuel mixture causing cylinder 4 injector circuit low.

The most common cause of this code is a problem with the fuel injector itself. Other possible causes include a defective ignition coil, a bad spark plug, or a problem with the wiring or connectors.
If the code is only present when the engine is cold, it may be caused by a dirty or clogged fuel injector. In this case, cleaning or replacing the fuel injector should fix the problem.
If the code is present when the engine is warm, it may be caused by a problem with the ignition coil or spark plug. In this case, replacing the coil or spark plug should fix the problem.
If the code is present when the engine is running, it may be caused by a problem with the wiring or connectors. In this case, checking the wiring and connectors should fix the problem.

2013 FORD E-150 with 71100.0 miles

I purchased my 2013 Ford f-150 v6 3.5l from jons friendly used cars back in april of 2017. The truck has been doing fine until recently (last 2 days). As i was on my way to work, the truck was delaying w/shifting, the speedometer dropped to zero and which put the truck into failsafe. After looking into this and identifying the code (P0270), it confirmed the symptoms i was experiencing. I guess i'm wondering is this going to be something that need to replace (out of pocket) or is Ford or the dealership needing to get this replaced if it's been identified/posted on the tsb. How can i see if my car is covered or not?

I have a f150 4-wheel eco boost v6. I recently had my vehicle in for an oil change and at that time decided to have the recall done for the software update. The next few days i noticed that there was some hesitation with the gears shifting and the transmission at times would drop. I contacted the dealership to bring my truck back in at that time they could not find anything wrong but an oil pressure sensor. Some days later i was driving on the feeder road getting ready to enter the highway. As soon as i entered my speedometer stop working and the transmission dropped into 1st gear. There was a car behind me that almost collided with my truck. My family was in the car at the time and this could have been a serious accident. The next day i brought my truck back into the dealership and they did a quick diagnosis. They stated that i had transmission issues and that i needed to look into getting another vehicle through them and trading my truck out. I was upset by the response so i took my vehicle to a local transmission shop where they thoroughly inspected the truck. The findings were that the oss sensor was faulty and it pull up a P0270 code. The shop advised me that this was a warranty and safety issue and that i immediately take it back to the dealership to have it repaired. When i return to the dealership they at that time acknowledge that it was a warranty issue and could be fix, but they could not even look at it for 2-weeks and would not even provide a loaner after stating my safety concerns. I then contact Ford motor company and they could not assist until the dealership looked at my truck. I did state to them the time issue at the dealership but was told they have no control over what they do. I'm stuck with driving a unsafe vehicle for an issue outside of my control and no one at Ford is taking the matter seriously. This could cause a fatal or severe injury.

2012 FORD EXPEDITION with 60400.0 miles

We took the vehicle to our local Ford service center approx. Aug. 2017 with mileage at approx. 54000 miles while the vehicle was still covered under factory warranty. We were experiencing a sudden downshift in the transmission when driving in city streets. The instrument cluster would show the speed at 0 mph and the message --- miles to empty would display. The dealership was not able to pull any codes at that time or duplicate the symptoms on the vehicle. Our vin was not covered under any recall. We were not charged. No check engine light has ever displayed until april 5th, 2018. I was driving the vehicle on the highway in heavy traffic going 75 mph. The vehicle suddenly downshifted causing me to pull over onto the shoulder. Current mileage is 60400. The instrument cluster did the same thing as previously. The check engine light and wrench light came on as well. I took the vehicle in to an auto parts store to get scanned and they pulled code P0270. It is my understanding that Ford is expanding their recall due to more complaints. We have an appointment for april 24, 2018. Fortunately, we have a Ford extended service plan. The deductible is $100.00. I believe this vehicle is experiencing the conditions under Ford's recall number 16s19, nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000. This is my wife's primary vehicle. She has experienced the sudden downshift on many occasions lately but no check engine light. My wife states that she has to pull over and turn the vehicle off. A few minutes later she restarts the vehicle and the symptoms sometimes quit. Sometimes it takes a few cycles of turning the vehicle on and off for them to go away. Her route to work involves a lot of highway traffic with a lot of semi's (tractor trailer's) due to where we live (oil field traffic). Safety is my main concern. I have her text me every day when she arrives to work(school) with our 9yr old son.

2012 FORD EXPEDITION with 147000. miles

There have been several instances. The first one i was pulling out of a parking lot onto a main road when the transmission stopped pulling, acted like it was in neutral. I pulled over turned off the engine and restarted it and it was fine. The next was on a 2 lane highway cruising at about 50 mph, the vehicle jerked, locked up the rear tires, went into limp mode, check engine light came on and code was P0270 for the output speed sensor. Sysmptons are the same as described in Fords recall #16s19 but i was told by Ford that my vehicle was not covered under the recall because of the build date although the same transmission a d components were used. The instance happened again today with my wife and 3 young children in the vehicle, cruising approx 60 mph on the highway, rear wheels locked up, transmission downshifts to first gear, vehicle skids toward the edge of an embankment, just before getting there the wheels unlock and my wife is able to make it to a near by church parking lot to pull over and turn the engine off.
