Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit High

DTC P0459, sometimes indicated as P045900 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the auxiliary emissions system causing evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit high.

This code is set when the PCM detects that the purge control valve is not responding properly. This can be caused by a number of things, including a defective purge control valve, a wiring problem, or a problem with the PCM.
The first step in diagnosing this code is to check the purge control valve for proper operation. If it is not functioning properly, the valve will need to be replaced.
If the purge control valve is functioning properly, the next step is to check the wiring and connectors for any problems. If there are any problems, the wiring or connectors will need to be repaired or replaced.
If the wiring and connectors are OK, the next step is to check the PCM for any problems. If the PCM is defective, it will need to be replaced.
