P069E

Fuel Pump Control Module Requested MIL Illumination

DTC P069E, sometimes indicated as P069E00 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the transmission (gearbox) causing fuel pump control module requested mil illumination.

The DTC P069E: Fuel Pump Control Module Requested MIL Illumination code means that the fuel pump control module has requested the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) to illuminate. This code is usually caused by a problem with the fuel pump control module itself, or a problem with the electrical circuit that supplies power to the fuel pump control module.
There are a few things that you can do to try to fix this code:
-Verify that the fuel pump control module is getting power. Make sure that the fuse for the fuel pump is good, and that there is power getting to the fuel pump control module.
-Check the wiring harness for the fuel pump control module for damage or corrosion.
-Check the connectors on the fuel pump control module for damage or corrosion.
-If all of the above checks out, then the fuel pump control module may need to be replaced.

Power steering, traction control system, and check engine light came on while vehicle was stationary. And steering column locked up. After 20 minutes the power steering and traction control lights went off. Check engine light was read and P069E code was read back. After 4 days the check engine light went off on its own.

Check engine light lit. Showing codes P069E and P0614. This is the same symptom from recall# 14515 (fuel pump control module) due to internal corrosion. My vin# was not included. The code started shortly after starting to drive the car.

I was driving about 20 miles per hour when all the gauges on the dash board went crazy. The eco fuel economy light was flashing on and off, the stabili trak lights appeared on the dashboard without me even touching the button, the speedometer and engine coolant temperature gauge were going up and down eradically. The check engine indicator then appeared on the dash board. I stopped at a red light, when i went to step on the accelerator, i had no power. The accelerator was pushed to the floor and i was going about 5 miles and hour. All the above was still happening on the dashboard. The ac was now blowing warm air. It smelled like something was burning. This happened three times. In the end the speedometer wasn't working. I reached somewhere safe and parked the car. I went to shift the car into drive and there was a hard loud clunking noise. This only happened when the car was shifted into drive. My husband took the car to auto zone where they printed out the codes appearing for the check engine indicator. ( P069E, P0700, U0073, U0100) the battery in the car has also been replaced with a new one twice. It has been towed to the dealership twice due to not starting the next day after it has been driven the day before and working normal. We took the car to the Chevrolet dealership. They understood what had happened. That evening they called us back saying, " we can't duplicate the problem, so everything is fine." we lost our mind and told them to keep the car at the dealership until they could duplicate the problem becuase the car isn't three years old and shouldn't have these problems. Further, the car isn't safe!! We read blogs where this is common with the Equinox and indicated that to the dealership. The car is still at the dealership.

2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE with 1100.0 miles

I recently had a diagnostic done on my 2012 chevy Cruze eco 1.4 liter. The code read as P069E, fuel pump control module. I have had issue with the instrument panel not showing accurate fuel levels. Sometimes if the fuel goes below half a tank it reads empty for a few days or a week, even if i fill up the tank it still reads empty. This can be dangerous, especially on long trips and i have a long commute in and out of different cities. I have had this issue since i have had the car at 1100 miles when i got it. I currently have about 108000 miles. I used to think it was the fuel pump, but recently learned it could be a few things like the fuel line pressure sensor, fuel pump mra, wiring, circuit issues, or the fuel pump control module. And the fuel pump control module seems to be the main issue or so i have heard. It would be great if this could be resolved, it is not good driving around with a defective fuel system.

First time: march 21 - nj turnpike. Car "stabilitrak icon" and service stabilitrak" msg & "tire pressure monitor" light, then "brake icon" and "abs icon" with "service power steering" msg, then "service all wheel drive system" msg - all while the icons are on - car lost all power. Car died in the middle of the nj turnpike at almost exit 18e/w. Had vehicle towed, took first to firestone a day later, the found a code they said needed the chevy computers (P069E, U0073, d1231) - took to chevy a week later (bellavia chevy, rutherford, nj), dealer said they found no codes - could be the battery. We cleaned the ports, changed the battery. Had new tires installed at firestone on 4/9. 4/9 picked up the car, this time driving from northern nj to brooklyn and the exact same issue happened again, only this time, in the middle of the verrizano bridge in staten island. All the same lights / symptoms as above, lost all power. Managed to get off at the 92nd street exit and into a parking space - towed to parents house in brooklyn, made appt w/ chevy dealer for monday 4/12 (bay ridge Chevrolet of brooklyn). Vehicle is now with them, awaiting diagnostic - this is clearly a safety issue and for the first dealer to not be able to diagnose / get a code and the issue happened again. I'm now over 500.00 in diagnostics fees that did not fix anything. Both times were highway driving, weather conditions we good both days.

2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 with 72453.0 miles

One night on the way home from work, i was driving 60mph and all of the sudden my truck hydroplaned. I managed to get the truck straight and regain control of the vehicle. About a week later, as i'm heading home all of the sudden my abs, brake, and traction control lights all illuminated. The dic reads service stabilitrak and service traction control, then it will display stabilitrak off and traction control off. I had the codes read and my trouble code was P069E - fuel pump control module requested mil illumination and U0073 - control module communication bus a off. All those lights mentioned above have been on for about a month. I looked up information about the fpcm and found out about gm recall 14515, i entered my vin but the only recall that came up was for the takata airbag recall. As i read through the 14515 recall, i feel my truck is affected by it because, while driving the truck my speedometer jumps all around and is not stable. Also, when i try to accelerate, it feels like the engine stalls and there's no power there. Other times, it will down shift to increase rpms, but then soon shift gears into a higher gear then shift back into a low gear and repeat this until i let off the pedal. My tow haul mode will not stay engaged, cruise control will not stay engaged, and most of the time my truck won't even start when trying to use the remote start, instead lights just flash as i'm holding down the start button on the key fob. The truck feels really sluggish almost like there's no power, it seems like it hunts for the right gears while driving. Overall it just feels unsafe to drive.

2009 GMC SIERRA 1500 with 64000.0 miles

Hit a pothole full of water with right rear tire while making a right hand turn. The water splashed up and entered into the fuel system control module through a poor seal causing the unit to shut off fuel to the truck. Truck stalled out and would not restart blocking two lanes of traffic. Check engine light was lit, and the truck had the following codes set: P069E, P0231, P025A, P064A. I had the truck towed to haydocy Gmc and they diagnosed it as a faulty fuel system control module. They replaced and reprogrammed the new unit to the truck. They returned the defective part to me at my request and it was dripping water out of the seal. This is similar to recall 09v154000 for similar 2009 gm vehicles that were assembled in late 2008 just like my truck in which the seal was defective and would allow water to seep into the fuel system control module. I believe this recall should have included additional vehicle models including the Gmc sierra. I would be more than happy to provide any documentation, pictures, or parts necessary to assist.

2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 with 98000.0 miles

The check engine light came on while driving and when the codes were ran two codes popped up, P2534 (ignition 1 switch circuit low voltage 2. Ignition on/start switch low voltage.) and code P069E fuel pump control module requested mil illumination. When i had the dealer check this they said that the fuel pump control module needs to be replaced, however the vin number of my vehicle did not match that of the recall that is currently in place (bulletin no. 14515b from january 2015).
