P0973

Shift Solenoid "A" Control Circuit Low

DTC P0973, sometimes indicated as P097300 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the transmission (gearbox) causing shift solenoid "a" control circuit low.

This code is set when the engine control module (ECM) detects a low voltage (below 0.5 volts) on the shift solenoid A control circuit.
Possible causes of this code include a defective shift solenoid, a wiring problem, or a defective ECM.
If this code is detected, the ECM will disable the shift solenoid A control circuit, which will prevent the transmission from shifting into gear.
To fix this code, first determine the cause of the low voltage on the shift solenoid A control circuit. If the problem is a defective shift solenoid, replace it. If the problem is a wiring problem, fix the wiring. If the problem is a defective ECM, replace the ECM.
