2004 FORD F-250 SD with 50500.0 miles

My Ford f-250 superduty with 6.0 diesel has a hard starting issue and then the engine go from low idle to high idle causing to have to really apply the brakes in order to keep the vehicle from taking off. You can be just gradually taking off and then it accelerates with out warning. Have had instances when sitting at a stop and the engines rpm's jump causing the truck to start taking off and if not reacting fast enough would have hit a car in front of me. I do have a engine code in the vehicle, P2285 which states injector control pressure sensor circuit low. I have seen reports that have led to safety recalls due to wiring harnesses being faulty. I called the dealer and they said that my truck was not part of the recall, however it sounds real familiar with the problems associated with the recall.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,

2004 FORD F SUPER DUTY with 34958.0 miles

While towing a 13000 pound fifth wheel trailer with my truck (2004 f250 6.0l diesel engine) the engine shut off. I lost power steering and power brakes as a result. I was able to slow down and pull over to shoulder lane. After collecting my breath i tried to restart the vehicle. It started, but the engine light came on. The engine ran very erratic, rpm varied while sitting and as i attempted to drive it. I stopped again. Started again and nursed it home. Checked the code reader when i got home and found the code to be P2285, injection control pressure sensor low voltage.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,

2004 FORD F-250 SD with 73000.0 miles

Check engine light came on, i had it checked and found that it was code #P2285 or icp sensor circuit. The truck idles erratic and the motor surges. The Ford dealer said that it is not covered under safety recall #05s34 because of the build date. I have not had it repaired yet.

2003 FORD F SUPER DUTY with 109720. miles

2003 f350 pu truck 06 diesel engine. Check engine light came on starting the truck and the idle speed was at 600rpm then all of a sudden the truck accelerated to 1100rpm. I had put the truck in drive just as the jump in idle speed and the truck lunged forward. The idle speed went back to normal. As we stopped at a stop sign, the idle speed jumped again causing the truck to run almost into the oncoming traffic. Had i not had the break on, there would have been an accident. This problem persisted each time the vehicle was started and would last until the motor wormed. Each time, weather in drive or reverse, the idle would jump and the truck would leap, without warning. I took the truck to the Ford dealer where i was told that this was a well known problem and they had replaced a lot of the 3c3z 9f838 injector sensors and the 37130 pigtail harness. The sensor leaks oil into the connector and causes the connector to short. They replaced the icp sensor and connector and this corrected the problem. The system codes scan showed P0603 and P2285 as the problem. This is an obvious safety problem known to Ford for years and they have not addressed it. I checked the web and found hundreds of complaints on this specific problem and how to correct it. I also found that Ford changed the placement of the sensor when they found the design flaw, but did nothing to correct it on the existing vehicles. I guess someone has to die fro Ford to admit that they have a problem with their trucks.
FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL,

2003 FORD EXCURSION with 67000.0 miles

2003 Ford Excursion limited with 6.0l diesel engine. Only two weeks ago, my truck began to surge in acceleration at both idle and while cruising. It has also begun to stall out at both idle and while cruising. Also the vehicle has begun to have a strong smell of diesel fuel which enters the passenger cabin at start up. My service engine light has begun to light up and i checked the light with a digital diagnostic code reader. The code was P2285 (injector control pressure sensor circuit low). The situation is quite dangerous. My wife had complained that the vehicle surged ahead and she almost hit the car in front of her while stopped at a red light. When i drove the vehicle, it also began to buck and surge in both forward and reverse. While backing out of my driveway, the vehicle accelerated rearward and only by my having my foot near the brake pedal, stopped it from racing rearward. The vehicle has also cut off while at idle and while driving now. Again, a very dangerous condition. I have seen on the Ford truck enthusiast websites that i am not alone. There have been many complaints of this condition and faulty injector control pressure sensors especially in the '03 models but even later models. I am just out of warranty by a week, and Ford said they could do nothing for me. I have seen what the dealers have quoted others to fix the problem up to $2000.00 for wide ranging solutions (replacing turbos, replacing all injectors, etc.) i use this truck to transport my disabled child and definitely cannot afFord the dealer to rip me off for $2000. It is a $140 part and should take no longer than an hour of a technician's time to replace the sensor and pigtail harness. Clearly, Ford knows that they have a problem as they had a cust. Service program 03b05 and 03b06 regarding this issue for 47,000 other '03 trucks with the 6.0l engine. They said my vehicle's vin did not fall into those 47,000. Obviously it affects many more trucks than the 47,000.
