The transmission doesn't shift right and these dtc's are present. P2831, P2832, P287B. I have ran the tcm adaptive relearn service and these will come back on sooner or later. I have mainly been only warming up my car and they will come back on sometimes in a few weeks. I have changed out the negative battery cable due to corrosion and i'm not sure what to do now? Is a tcm module update needed?

When i went to warm up my car the check engine light is on and the transmission doesn't work right. It takes a while to engage the gear and won't go past 30 mph. It shifts very rough. It has been doing this for a while now every two days now. I have done the tcm adaptive learning service in forscan and i have updated the pcm and tcm and abs modules to the latest calibration. After the tcm adaptive learning it shifts fine but the dtc's will come back on in a few days. The dtc's are P2831, P2833, and P287B. I don't know what else to do? The battery and battery cables are fine.

2013 FORD FOCUS with 40470.0 miles

Monday june 1st after clearing the codes from the previous incident 2 days prior and taking a few short drives around town on sunday the vehicle transmission seemed to be operating normally so monday i drove to auburn at 5 am and had no issues. Coming home at about 1:30 it started to exhibit the same symptoms from saturday so i got off the freeway and within a few blocks had intermittent no power to the wheels, giving it gas just revved the engine, i managed to limp it into a parking lot with the transmission going in and out. Hooking up my obd2 computer i got the following codes: P2862, P2837, P2862 (again) and P287B. I did notice on both days it failed that the transmission would not go into sport/manual shift mode. I attempted to clear the codes and the P2862 would not clear after 3 attempts so i called Ford roadside. Late in the 3 hour wait for a tow truck the car started and the code seemed to have cleared, i was able to move forward and reverse in the parking lot. I believe that it is somehow triggered by higher temperature drives but not that high, and at least a 20-25 mile drive. Saturday it was about 73 degrees when it failed and monday it was in the high 60s. When i drove to work monday morning it was in the low 50s. Also when it failed i could hear mechanism in the transmission seemingly trying to shift like the noise a regular manual transmission makes when shifting, (gears and lever actuators). They have no idea when Ford will be providing clutch parts let alone whatever else is broke. I now believe that the latest problem i have having is way beyond the clutches slipping and shuddering like most people have described. This problem is extremely dangerous and somebody will be seriously injured or killed when their Focus "automatic transmission" causes the car to loose power without much warning and in a dangerous situation. Why no recall?

Help me understand why the nhtsa has not forced a recall concerning the major issues found with these transmissions? Has Ford pulled the wool over the eyes of nhtsa just as they have with their very own customers? My car sits at the dealership because im not convinced the mechanic has determined the true cause of the trans to cause a loss of power while i was driving about 20-25mph the trans seemed to slip into neutral but when pressing the gas ped the engine wouldnt rev nor would the car go any faster. I was 1/4 mile from my house & turned around to go back, i shut the car off & back on, the engine revved & back to idle, i put in reverse & it hesitated to move but did, i put in forward & it revved up 2x again while i to coast to my driveway. My car has shuddered at times & seemed to hesitate to know what gear to go into although i figured it to be normal since i owned the car since 9/2016 & the more i drove the more i assumed it was a type of trans that acted like a manual when it changed gears, i have only recently learned of all the major problems while doing research. I am concerned for my safety after reading just a small amount of customer complaints. The check engine light was on when i experienced the loss of power and codes P2831 P2832 & P287B were present. The mechanic said the "mechanical mechanism" is "stuck" keeping the clutch applied. He made this assumption with the transmission still installed & not checking the internal components; he must be pretty darn good to do all that! He checked the tcm per notification 14m02 which surprising passed. To the best of my knowledge notification 14m01 was not checked which would require the trans be removed from what i read. Tsb 15-0121 also calls out a potential cause. They want me to pay $2500 to replace the clutch just to be able to further diagnose potential problems without fully diagnosing the problem. 78000mi

2012 FORD FOCUS with 125000. miles

My 2012 Ford Focus has 125,000 miles. The transmission stopped working as my wife was pulling into our driveway and it gave the error codes P2832 and P287B. It will move a little, but makes a loud grinding noise. These error codes are supposed to be covered by tsb 16-0044. I took it to garber Ford in green cove springs, fl. Yesterday they told me it will require a new transmission and will cost me over $5,000. If this is a known problem item from Ford, why isn't Ford replacing it? I cannot afFord a new trans, and i cannot get sell the car as it now doesn't run and i still owe $4,000 on it.
