P3492

Cylinder 12 Deactivation/Intake Valve Control Circuit High

DTC P3492, sometimes indicated as P349200 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a manufacturer-specific fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the auxiliary emissions system causing cylinder 12 deactivation/intake valve control circuit high.

This code is set when the PCM detects a high input voltage or short to ground on the cylinder 12 deactivation/intake valve control circuit.
There are a few things that could cause this code to set. The most common causes are a bad intake valve, a bad camshaft sensor, or a bad wiring connection.
If you have access to a scan tool, you can test the camshaft sensor by checking the output voltage while cranking the engine. If the sensor is bad, it will not produce a voltage signal.
If you suspect a wiring issue, you can check the wiring harness for damage or corrosion.
