  • Extended stopping distance
    The office of defects investigation (odi) has opened this preliminary evaluation (pe) on model year (my) 2016-2019 triumph thruxton and speed triple model motorcycles based on allegations of loss of front braking performance.Odi is aware of 28 vehicle owner questionnaires (voqs) that allege, often without warning, there is no front braking ability on the first pull of the brake lever and that the front brake lever must be double-pulled (pulled, released, pulled again) to stop the motorcycle, causing an extended stopping distance thereby increasing the risk of a crash.Odi discussed the voqs with triumph on multiple occasions to gather information and to understand triumphs position. Triumph believes this is connected to the customers failure to follow triumphs scheduled maintenance recommendations of changing the brake fluid every two years, regardless of mileage. A review of voqs show that some of the reports are for motorcycles less than two-years old at the time of filing.
