Recall 2000219

  • CA Recall: Engine
On certain vehicles, the snap ring which retains the cover for the oil thermostat element in the thermostat housing, may not have been completely seated during production. the oil thermostat housing is located in the oil pump intermediate flange. should the cover loosen or detach, the entire volume of oil could escape from the engine in a relatively short time. in addition to significant engine damage, oil could travel along the engine cover and ultimately contact the rear tire. this could result in loss of traction and possible loss of vehicle control. correction: snap ring will be inspected to make sure that it is fully seated. if the snap ring is not fully seated, the complete fuel pump intermediate flange will be replaced.
