    Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 121 - air brake systems. the trailer antilock brake system (abs) fault indicator lamp may not illuminate if a trailer abs fault occurs, due to a programming or hardware issue with the brake system electronic control unit. an inoperable trailer abs fault indicator may prevent the driver from being aware of a trailer abs fault condition, thereby increasing the risk of a crash resulting in property damage and/or personal injury. correction: dealers will reprogram or replace the abs electronic control unit.
