  • USA Recall: This can cause the vehicle to roll away with the engine on after the driver has left the vehicle.
    Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks equipped with a500 automatic transmission. inadvertent placement of the shift lever in reverse can occur when the driver believes that the transmission has been placed in park.

    Corrective Action:
    Dealers will replace the steel manual valve in the transmission with an aluminum version.

    Additional Notes:
    Owner notification began june 5, 2000.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-992-1997. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
