Recall 12762 [USA]: If the body panel comes in contact with the cable wire, a short circuit, loss of electrical supply, or fire could occur.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The main battery cable can contact a body panel located in the trunk, resulting in damage to the cable insulation. dealers will reposition the cable and replace any damaged cables. owner notification is expected to begin during october 1997.Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact rolls-royce at 1-201-967-9100.Also contact the national highway traffic safety admininistration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
Recall 15824 [USA]: This condition can lead to a brake hydraulic fluid leak and reduced braking performance.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The bolts attaching the lower steering column to the intermediate steering coupling can contact the brake hydraulic system pipes located in the engine compartment. dealers will reposition the pipes to prevent contact between the pipes and bolts, and any damaged pipes will be replaced. owner notification is expected to begin during august 1997. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact rolls royce at 1-800-825-9360.Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
Recall 15261 [USA]: The brake pedal feel can vary, especially following a prolonged period of inactivity and higher pedal pressure may be required. this condition can cause a loss of braking capability and increase the potential for a vehicle accident.
An incompatibility can exist between the mineral oil supplied by castrol and the hydraulic brake system of these vehicles. dealers will drain the hydraulic system and refill the system with new mineral oil. The affected spare bottles will also be replaced. system: brakes; fluid; hydraulic.Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with an integrated hydraulic braking and load leveling system which functions by the means of pressurized mineral oil supplied by castrol (u.K.) ltd. Each vehicle is also equipped with a trunk-mounted spare bottle of the same mineral oil.Note: owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealership on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact rolls-royce at 1-201-967-9100. Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
Recall 19955 [USA]: If the fuse blows, the driver cannot change gears or place the vehicle in park. this condition can disable the vehicle transmission, increasing the potential for a vehicle accident.
An incorrectly positioned wire within the electrically operated gearbox actuator can chafe against the cover causing the transmission selector fuse to blow. dealers will reposition the affected wire to prevent contact with the gearbox actuator cover. system: power train; transmission; automatic.Vehicle description: sedan and limousines.Note: owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time, should contact rolls royce at 1-201-967-9100. Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
Recall R/1997/078 [UK]: Possible short circuiting
The main cable between the battery and the master switch can contact the edge of the body panel in the boot area. If the panel cuts through the cable insulation a short circuit may occur resulting in potential loss of electrical supply and a possible risk of fire. affected vehicles are being recalled for inspection of the battery cable routing. Where insufficient clearance exists the cable will be repositioned. Additionally if the cable shows signs of wear it will be repaired or replaced as required.
Recall 1997080 [Canada]: Brakes
The integrated hydraulic brake and load levelling system on these vehicles functions by means of pressurized mineral oil. Characteristics of certain batches of hydraulic system mineral oil may affect the operation of the distribution valves. When this occurs, brake pedal feel may vary, especially following a prolonged period of inactivity. Higher pedal effort may be required upon initial application of the brake in order to achieve desired braking performance. Correction: mineral oil will be changed.
Recall 1997187 [Canada]: Electrical
These vehicles are equipped with a trunk mounted battery. There may be insufficient clearance between the battery cable and the luggage compartment side carpet flange. This could eventually cause wear of the cable insulation, potentially resulting in a short circuit, loss of electrical supply, or fire. Correction: battery cable will be repositioned and any damaged cables will be replaced.
Recall 1995169 [Canada]: Electrical
A wire inside the electric motor driven gearbox actuator may come into contact with the inner face of the assembly case, causing fretting of the wire and also causing the fuse protecting the circuit to blow if this occurs it would not be possible to engage the desired gear range and may not be possible to restart the vehicle after the engine has been switched off. If "park" is not engaged and the driver does not apply the parking brake, a roll away could occur. Correction: affected wire will be repositioned.
