• Recall 95747 [USA]: Overheating could lead to a fire, even while the vehicle is not in use. as a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.
  Bmw is recalling certain model year 2004-2010 5-series, model year 2004-2010 6-series, model year 2006-2010 m5, and model year 2007-2010 m6 vehicles. The insulated bulkhead connector for the positive battery cable may have been incorrectly attached to the trunk floor panel, which can lead to a loosening of the bolt connection. As it loosens, an increase in electrical resistance at this cable connection is possible and could cause the cable connection to overheat.
  bmw will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and secure the battery bolt cable connection as necessary, free of charge. The safety recall began on april 30, 2012. Owners may contact bmw customer relations and services at 1-800-525-7417.

• Recall R/2010/151 [UK]: Possible reduction in brake servo assistance
  It is possible that engine oil can enter the brake servo via the brake vacuum pump and vacuum hose. If this occurs it could damage the brake servo membrane which may leak so causing a reduction in braking assistance and a requirement to apply increased pedal force to achieve the same braking efficiency.
  recall all affected vehicles for the fitment of a modified servo hose. In addition the checking of the brake servo for contamination and replacement if required.

• Recall R/2012/039 [UK]: Risk of fire
  The positive battery cable routed from the vehicle battery to the engine bay consists of one cable in the luggage compartment and one cable in the underbody. Both cable are connected by a screw connection and covered by a plastic cover. In single cases the plastic cover may have been fitted incorrectly during the vehicle production. Over time an incorrectly fitted cover could cause the screw connections to come loose leading to an increased resistance also humidity may affect the connection and cause high resistance and drop in current. This can lead to the vehicle not starting and in extreme cases the connection could over heat leading to the possibility of a fire in the luggage area.

• Recall R/2011/147 [UK]: Short circuit may occur
  Due to the ingress of moisture it is possible that a short circuit can occur in the additional coolant pump for the exhaust turbocharger. The driver will be informed of the issue by a warning message on the display in the instrument panel. If not addressed it is possible for further heat build up in the pump which may cause the plug connection and housing to melt and in extreme cases a localised fire in the engine compartment or vehicle.

  It has been identified that defects in a material joint may have resulted during the heat treatment of individual components of the rear axle carrier. This may result in failure of the holders of the links and struts even under normal driving conditions. Should the holder of a link fail whilst the vehicle is in motion the handling characteristics of the vehicle would undergo an unexpected change which could result in an accident.

• Recall 2012109 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, the insulated bulkhead connector (used to join the two halves of the positive battery cable) may have been incorrectly installed during vehicle assembly. Over time, the bolt connection could loosen, which would increase electrical resistance. In addition, an incorrectly insulated bulkhead connector could allow humidity to accumulate at this location, causing current leakage. These issues could cause the cable connection to overheat, which could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, as necessary, secure the insulated bulkhead connector. In addition, protective grease will be added to the area and the plastic battery positive terminal cover will be replaced.

  On certain vehicles, a check valve in the brake vacuum pump may leak a small amount of lubricating oil. Over time, this could result in contamination of the brake booster. Loss of brake power assist could occur which, in conjunction with traffic, road conditions, and driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake booster and master cylinder. Additionally, the brake vacuum line (including the check valve) will be replaced to eliminate the possibility of oil reaching the brake booster.

Convertible top locks up randomly, get message to reduce speed due to top not being locked when it was fine the "ride" before, try to "lock", then windows go halfway down and stay stuck that way. This happens when in motion, on street or highway.

Shows the bmw logo then screen goes blank and keeps cycling the same way. The nav, radio, bluetooth, cd and the sos light error in the cluster. Safety alarks are all disabled and the vehicle is unable to detect or report if objects are near the bumper or sides of the vehicle. The unit stays running (maybe the fan) when i turn the car off and drains the battery.

2nd time this has occurred in pouring rain while driving. I have a rag top convertible bmw that when it is pouring rain..Water somehow permeates the back of the car and "fries" the electrical components as i am driving.. The first time it happened it fried the onboard ccc at 48,000 miles, and all the components and now it has apparently compromised the replaced parts in the trunk area.. I looked it up and it there is "service bulletin" nhtsa id number: 10028770.. And i am sorry but i think this is a safety hazard when i am driving in the rain.. And all of sudden all of my electrical components start to fizzle out.. And the hazard lights are activated..

Vehicle would not maintain speed in 3-4 gear, would go into limp mode. Had to have the transmission replace with only 25,000 miles on the vehicle. *tr

While passenger is in the vehicle the passenger airbag off light stays lit, meaning that the airbag is off even though there is a person in the seat, that person in the seat in my son that weighs about 225 lbs. My local dealership replaced the whole passenger seat and sensor. Once i got my car back i had the same exact problem. My car was also with the dealership for about 30 days for this issue. Also in the vehicle options for this form my car wasn't on there so my car model is: 2008 bmw m6. *tr
