• Recall 142631 [USA]: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
  Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2009-2011 k1300 (s, gt), 2010-2011 s1000 rr, 2005-2011 r1200 (gs, gs adventure, r, rt, s, st), 2006-2010 hp2 (enduro, megamoto, sport), 2005-2008 k1200 (r, r sport, s, gt), and 2012 k1600 (gt, gtl) motorcycles that were repaired under recall 13v-617 with the support ring remedy and where the fuel pump was not replaced at a later date. This recall involves the fuel pump, and also the auxiliary fuel pump as applicable. The affected motorcycles have a fuel pump flange that may crack, possibly resulting in a fuel leak while the engine is running.
  bmw will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump(s) with an improved version, free of charge. The recall began january 18, 2021. Owners may contact bmw customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

• Recall 114903 [USA]: If the rear wheel mounting flange cracks, the mounting bolts may loosen and the rear wheel may not remain secured to the motorcycle, causing a loss of stability and increasing the risk of a crash.

In the affected motorcycles, the rear wheel mounting flange may crack if the rear wheel mounting bolts are over tightened.

• Recall 66840 [USA]: Engine stalling could result in a vehicle crash.
  Bmw is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 k1300 s and k1300 gt motorcycles manufactured between september 11, 2008 and november 19, 2009. Poor fuel quality may lead to small deposits within the throttle bodies. During engine operation in a low rpm range, typically near idle speed (when coming to a stop) air flow could be sufficiently restricted and engine stalling could occur.

  Issue: on certain motorcycles, the fuel pump flange could crack. If this happens, fuel could leak while the engine is running. Note: this recall only affects motorcycles that did not have the fuel pump replaced under transport canada recall 2013-442. Safety risk: a fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: bmw will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump and auxiliary fuel pump (if equipped) with an improved version.

• Recall 2017428 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard (cvmss) 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.

  On certain motorcycles, the threaded holes on the rear wheel flange could crack if the wheel bolts are tightened beyond the specified torque limit during servicing. Over time, this could allow the bolts to back out of their threaded holes, causing the rear wheel to become loose. This could result in a loss of stability of the motorcycle, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel flange.

  On certain motorcycles, cracks could develop in the fuel pump and/or auxiliary fuel pump flange (if equipped). This would result in fuel leaking when the engine is turned on and the fuel system is pressurized. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the fuel pump flange(s) and install a reinforcing ring or replace the fuel pump(s), as necessary.

• Recall 2010395 [Canada]: Suspension
  On certain motorcycles, due to environmental conditions, the bearings of the link lever attached to the rear strut could be subject to corrosion. This could lead to reduced movement of the link lever. Over time, if the corrosion became significant, restriction of movement of the link lever could occur. This could affect handling of the motorcycle. In an extreme case, this could result in the connecting rod breaking by a bending force, causing the rear wheel to decelerate by contact with the inner fender. This could lead to a crash depending on traffic, road conditions and rider's reactions. Correction: dealers will replace the rear suspension relay lever.

• Fuel leak - motorycle investigation # EA13006

2010 bmw k1300s motorcycle in 2014 a recall was issued for fuel pump flange may develop cracks and leak fuel in presence of an ignition source.That may result in a fire. Bike was returned to the dealer and a retro fit kit installed .Now in 2019 kit has failed and now leaking only when engine is running making a unsafe/ deadly condition.

Stalling upon deceleration and engaging clutch to stop for traffic signal on city street.

Driving to dealer on this motorcycle for service when i needed to use the horn it malfunctioned did not work put me into a very danger situation. I have notice online there are many complaints about this problem and i feel this should be a recall as i have been riding motorcycles for over 35 years with many different brands and never had a horn malfunction when you use it can be a life or death situation. *tr

A significant vibration was noted at moderate vehicle speeds, with a frequency seeming to match the wheel rotation rate. Inspection of the vehicle revealed significant play (approximately 5 mm measured at the wheel rim) in the rear wheel, indicative of some type of bearing failure in the final drive assembly. Bmw dealer mechanic verified that the play was excessive. Mechanic proceeded to tear down the final drive assembly, and noted bearing seizure and wear of the axle against the bearing inner race. Entire final drive assembly was replaced. I believe there is no way this type of failure should occur in a properly designed assembly, with a large ball bearing in an oil bath, at the low vehicle miles. All manufacturer required maintenance was performed at the proper intervals. This failure could easily have resulted in a rear wheel lockup, which could then result in a high speed crash. *tr
