Recall RM/2010/008 [UK]: Front brake pipes may leak.
The front brake pipes may leak brake fluid which can be noticed in the first instance by seepage of brake fluid from the front hose/s and a lowering of the fluid level in the reservoir. The next stage of failure would be a spongy feeling to the brake control and dripping fluid from the brake hoses. If all the previous indicators have not been noted and rectified the brakes will eventually not apply. recall the machines that are likely to be affected to check which brake hoses are fitted and if not the latest version fit new brake hoses.
Recall RM/2010/011 [UK]: Steering travel may be inhibited.
It is possible for the threaded fasteners for the fuel tank to work loose and fall to a position where they can inhibit the steering travel. If this happens the directional control will only be affected during low speed manoeuvring. recall the machines that are likely to be affected to inspect and on the machines that are affected refit the fastenings of the front fuel tank mounts after coating with a thread locking compound.
Recall 2020437 [Canada]: Fuel supply
Issue: on certain motorcycles, the fuel pump flange could crack. If this happens, fuel could leak while the engine is running. Note: this recall only affects motorcycles that did not have the fuel pump replaced under transport canada recall 2013-442. Safety risk: a fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: bmw will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump and auxiliary fuel pump (if equipped) with an improved version.
Recall 2017428 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard (cvmss) 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.
Recall 2015101 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain motorcycles, the threaded holes on the rear wheel flange could crack if the wheel bolts are tightened beyond the specified torque limit during servicing. Over time, this could allow the bolts to back out of their threaded holes, causing the rear wheel to become loose. This could result in a loss of stability of the motorcycle, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel flange.
Recall 2013442 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain motorcycles, cracks could develop in the fuel pump and/or auxiliary fuel pump flange (if equipped). This would result in fuel leaking when the engine is turned on and the fuel system is pressurized. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the fuel pump flange(s) and install a reinforcing ring or replace the fuel pump(s), as necessary.
Recall 2010204 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain motorcycles, the front brake lines (due to its current routing) may be under strain. The vibrations that occur when the motorcycle is being ridden could cause the brake lines to develop leaks, allowing brake fluid to escape and cause the level of fluid in the reservoir of the front brake system to drop. Brake fluid leakage could result in loss of front braking capability, which could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the front brake lines.
Recall 2010268 [Canada]: Other
On certain motorcycles, if the hand protector is twisted out of position relative to the handlebar lever, to the extent that lever and protector come into contact, there is a possibility that the handlebar lever remain continuously in the partly operated position. This is turn can cause problems with the brake function and could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: owners will receive a loose-leaf insert as an addendum to the rider's manual and two stickers complete with the installation instructions, or owners may have their authorised bmw motorcycle dealers do the installations for them.
Recall 2009268 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain motorcycles, the fuel pump control unit may be subject to water intrusion which, in time, will cause it to fail. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel pump control unit.

On certain motorcycles, vibrations that occur when underway could cause the front brake lines to suffer damage and develop a leak. Brake fluid leakage could ultimately result in loss of front braking capability which, depending on traffic conditions and the rider's reactions, could result in a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the front brake lines.

Certain motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of cmvss 108 - lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment. The front turn signals were installed in an improper location. As a result, the rider's intentions to turn may not be conveyed clearly to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the turn signal base.

Correction: dealers will inspect and tighten the fuel tank mounting bolts as per specifications.
