• Recall 6627 [USA]: This condition could cause the abs ecu to exhaust the air at the air brake modulators for one or more of the wheels. this could result in extended braking distances and a possible crash.
  Vehicle description: school buses, medium duty trucks and tractors built with bendix air abs with an ec-17 1030r electronic control unit (ecu), there have been reports of unwanted abs activation at low speeds caused by 1) chafed abs wheel speed sensor wires on rotating parts or 2) a damaged component at the wheel end that generates a certain type of erratic sensor signal.
  dealers will replace the abs ecu.
  owner notification began december 14, 2000 for the b7 series school buses and on march 15, 2001, for the medium duty trucks and tractors. • Recall 10577 [USA]: This could lead to loss of steering, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
  Vehicle description: school buses equipped with power steering. Some of these vehicles were assembled with an incorrect intermediate steering shaft. The overlap in the slip joint is insufficient allowing the steering shaft to separate.
  dealers will inspect the steering shaft and, if necessary, replace the intermediate steering shaft.

• Recall 11872 [USA]: This condition can cause reduced braking capability of the front brakes, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Vehicle description: medium duty trucks equipped with air brakes and anti-lock brake systems. Chaffing of the electric brake control harness can occur resulting in an electrical grounding condition. This will illuminate a warning light on the instrument panel and shut off the abs feature.
  dealers will inspect the harness for chaffing and proper routing and will repair if necessary.

• Recall 1998151 [Canada]: Brakes
  Some of these vehicles equipped with air brakes and anti-lock brake systems may exhibit brake control electrical harness chafing. This may cause grounding of the harness (which provides power to the front brake modulator valves) and a shut off of the abs feature with the foundation brakes still functioning. However, other wires in the harness when grounded, will result in no air reaching one or both of the front brake chambers. Resulting reduction of braking capability could cause increased stopping distances and a crash. In either instance, electrical grounding will cause a dash panel warning light to illuminate. Correction: dealers will inspect for chafing and proper routing of the wiring harness and repair if necessary.

My 1998 chevy lumina ls is not on the recall l list for engine fire risk even though two local chevy dealers have told me my auto has that safety risk. The auto has the same problems that need fixing but i would have to pay about $400 to have it fixed. They checked to see if my auto was included in the recall but it is not. Why not? Fuel and oil are leaking. About to put on 30,000 miles on the car. Tried to sell me a new car but cannot use the new cars with shift between seats due to hand and shoulder problems. *tr
