• Recall 1998040 [Canada]: Emissions
  Certain vehicles do not comply with cmvss 1103 - exhaust emissions. Vehicles may been built with the ignition coil wire too close to metal brackets or the transmission fluid fill tube (m/l van only). If the coil wire is too close to these metal objects, arcing may occur and cause failure of the wires which can in turn lead to a stalling/no start condition and/or catalytic converter failures. Correction: coil wire will be repositioned to assure adequate clearance from metal brackets and/or transmission fluid fill tubes.

• Recall 1998159 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain crew cab pick ups, the front inner corner of the fuel tank may contact the body sill and over time wear a hole in or crack the fuel tank at the point of contact. This condition could result in fuel leakage and in the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur. Correction: tank will be inspected for wear and a spacer will be installed between the fuel tank and the front crossmember, or if necessary, the fuel tank will be replaced.

  Certain vehicles do not comply with cmvss 1101 - emissions. Vehicles were built with an incorrect emission control label. The label incorrectly identifies the engine family name. Correction: correct labels and instructions for installation will be mailed to owners.

• Recall 1997049 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Certain vehicles exhibit a condition in which a pinch bolt exists in the recliner mechanism that could trap and pinch a person's hand or finger(s) when the easy entry feature is activated. This pinching could cut the hand or possibly sever the finger(s) without prior warning. Correction: a protector will be installed over the recliner mechanism.

• Recall 1997166 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Certain vehicles may not comply with cmvss 207 - seat anchorages. Vehicles may have been shipped with one or two front seat mounting bolts not installed. In a vehicle crash, a seat with this condition will not protect the occupant as required by the standard. Correction: dealers will check all seat mounting bolts and install new bolts where required.

Consumer winsheild wipers would stop and buzz at times on the 1997 chevrolet cheyenne. *ts the module was replaced and the consumer has not experienced any more problems. *jb

Windshield wipers stop working when they want to. This has been happening for approx. 7 years. There was a recall on the 1996 model but gm would not cover my 1997 model, said if i pay to replace circuit board and send to them they may or may not pay but was not included in recall although is just as hazardous as year earlier model. This is a very serious situation as wipers will just stop in any position at will then next time i turn them on they may work or not. *tr

Consumer complained about a steering problem. While driving consumer experienced a momentary loss of control due to power assist failure. Also, this occurred when vehicle veered in either direction. While consumer was trying to regain control of vehicle power assist failed momentarily. This failure was due to a bad steering sensor.*ak *la

Windshield wiper motor failed in the rain. *ak *sc *jb

Fuel injection system was repaired by the dealer after the vehicle lost pressure. Currently, windshield wipers work intermittently. *ak the transmission was slipping because the motor was not functioning properly, the fuel injectors were the main cause for all of there parts to malfunction and break down, the abs brakes were activating on dry pavement at slower speeds, the steering wheel off center and vehicle pulled to the left and would intermittently clunk and found loose pitman arm, the vehicle would skip and shake, and the catalytic converter gave insufficient efficiency. *sc the fuel injection was repaired. The service dealer refused to repair anything dealing with the engine. The consumer stated that the windshield wiper motor has not yet been corrected. *tc

Intermittently the windshield wipers malfunctioned, causing poor visibility while driving in rainy or snowy weather. Dealer had not been contacted, and the cause of the failure had not yet been determined.*ak
