  On certain vehicles operated in areas of high salt use, the spare tire hoist cable may corrode and eventually break. This would allow the spare tire to fall off the vehicle possibly resulting in a road hazard for other vehicles. Correction: a letter will be sent to owners of affected vehicles with maintenance and inspection instructions for spare tire hoist cable assemblies. Additionally, the letter will advise the owner that, if the cable breaks during that inspection, their dealer will repair the assembly. This policy will be in effect until december 31, 2002.

• Recall 1998150 [Canada]: Visual system
  Certain vehicles may have windshield wiper motors with solder joints near the wiring harness connector that could crack. This could cause the windshield wiper to work intermittently and ultimately result in inoperative wipers. This could reduce driver visibility in inclement weather and result in a crash. Correction: wiper motor circuit board and cover will be replaced.

• Recall 1998159 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain crew cab pick ups, the front inner corner of the fuel tank may contact the body sill and over time wear a hole in or crack the fuel tank at the point of contact. This condition could result in fuel leakage and in the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur. Correction: tank will be inspected for wear and a spacer will be installed between the fuel tank and the front crossmember, or if necessary, the fuel tank will be replaced.

  Certain vehicles exhibit a condition in which a pinch bolt exists in the recliner mechanism that could trap and pinch a person's hand or finger(s) when the easy entry feature is activated. This pinching could cut the hand or possibly sever the finger(s) without prior warning. Correction: a protector will be installed over the recliner mechanism.

  On certain vehicles, the steering column upper intermediate shaft nut may not be torqued to the proper specification. The nut could detach allowing the through bolt that secures the upper intermediate shaft to the lower steering column shaft to fall out. This could result in possible shaft separation, loss of steering control and a vehicle crash. Correction: suspect fasteners will be torqued to specification.

  Certain vehicles may not comply with cmvss 124 - accelerator control systems. Vehicles may have been assembled with the throttle cable contacting the dash mat. The dash mat may bind the throttle cable such that the throttle return time may not meet the requirements of the standard. Correction: dealers will inspect for adequate throttle cable to dash mat clearance, and if there is insufficient clearance, a portion of the dash mat will be cut out to provide clearance.

• Recall 1996100 [Canada]: Suspension
  Certain vehicles may have a bead damage to the tires which occurred during tire mounting. The damage to the tire reinforcing structure in the bead "toe" area would likely manifest itself as a bulge in the sidewall after the tire is inflated. This damage could result in rapid air loss, which could cause injuries to anyone if they were handling the tire when this occurred. Correction: tires will be demounted and inspected for bead damage. If bead damage is present, the tire will be replaced.

• Recall 1995140 [Canada]: Powertrain
  On certain vehicles, the transmission shift cable lock clip may back out of its installed position resulting in loss of cable adjustment. This could cause the transmission to not obtain mechanical park when the shift lever is placed in the park position. If the driver fails to apply the parking brake, unwanted vehicle movement could occur. Correction: the shift cable will be adjusted and a redundant lock clip will be installed.

Dt: consumer sates: he had a clutch plate and a shaft replaced on the transmission in october 2004. In the past when he was pulling an r.V. Trailer he had no problem pulling the mountain passes (in oregon). After he had the parts replaced, while pulling a mountain pass,going approx. 45 mph, he lost the clutch. It went straight to the floor. He was able to get off the road. The next morning, after the engine had cooled the clutch was fine. The dealership can't see anything wrong with the clutch, because they test it when the engine is cold. The manufacturer said he would have to take it up with the dealership. *nm

Replaced wiper motor circuit board- due to motor failed cracked solder joints- gm will not pay for a 1995 chevrolet van-they did pay and recalled this same part on other gm vehicles but not this model this part has been proven to be defective and should not be disallowed for payment because of the model of the vehicle. We did have to replace this part but gm will not approve payment. Nhtsa campaign id # 03v159000 replaced the part on 33 vehicles but should have to pay on all vehicles with this defective part. *nlm

While backing up consumer was told stop lights were not working. Vehicle has not been examined by a dealer.*ak

Intermittently windshield wipers become inoperable, obstructing driver's view. Please provide additional information.*ak

Abs sensor light stays on. Both front and rear brakes were recently replaced and were in good condtion. When vehicle was moving more the 40 mph and brakes pressed , started to feel that there were no brakes, and vehicle would start to skid. Dealer was charging consumer for repairs since warranty has expired.*ak the speedometer malfunctions. *yh

Solder joint on circuit board cracked and caused windshield wipers not work. Dealership sold consumer this part, and he repaired it himself. There was a recall for this problem, but consumer's vehicle was not included due to vin #. *ak

Windshield wipers fail to work properly in the rain. This causes driver to have poor visibility. Would need to roll down driver's window & jerk on wipers to get started. Has not been to dealer. Its an intermittent problem, but now being more continuous. Going under hood, can jiggle wires for wipers to move. *ak

Transmission has gone out twice; also, having trouble with brakes, vehicle loses power which makes it go very slowly. *ak

Fuel injection pump has failed while driving 70 mph, and vehicle slowed down rapidly. Also, stalled when first starting. Has to be restarted a few times before it stays running. For this the dealer has replaced pumps 5 times. However, it did not remedy problem. *ak
